Self-Portrait

I need to say something about Canon USA’s awesome repair department.

Of course I don’t ever want my stuff to break. Every so often, despite my best attempts at careful handling and maintenance, my stuff breaks anyway. My most recent casualty was the 50mm f/1.4 lens, which spontaneously stopped autofocusing the other day. A quick Google search informed me that this was not an uncommon problem, and so off for repair it went.

My lens was not (to my knowledge) under warranty–I bought it used. Nevertheless, Canon fixed it for free and had it mailed back to me within a matter of days. I’m always hesitant about mailing my stuff away, but these guys are so quick and efficient that I really shouldn’t be. Yay Canon!

Anyway! In honor of my (once again autofocusing) 50mm being returned to me by the wonderful folks at Canon, I decided to do a self-portrait.

The timing was somewhat coincidental, but it worked out that this fit this week’s Project 52 theme over at My3Boybarians.com.

You have very pretty eyes. I love the dof in your image and your focus is really sharp. Great job.

So glad you got your lens back in a few days-I think I would have panicked without my 50mm:) Very nice portrait!
